Can you tell us more about you, your role, and what you do?

As a Client Associate at Monenti Partners, my responsibilities are twofold. On one hand, I am accompanying Tom Rawlings and Alistair Hopton to their Financial Planning meetings, where I hone my note-taking skills to enhance the depth of client interactions.
This exposure is invaluable as it equips me with the necessary insights and experience for conducting my own client meetings in the future. On the other hand, I manage the Tailored Financial Planning Service, coordinating meetings and preparing essential client documentation for updates. Additionally, I contribute to these meetings by taking detailed notes and assist in crafting the Investment Progress Reports subsequently.

What are your strengths?

I would like to think my biggest strength is my personable nature, which helps me to interact positively with clients in order to organise the meetings and take clients through any difficulties they are having with the process. I am also a very analytical person, which helps me spot any inconsistencies in our reporting and helps make sure our records are up to date, which means we are able to provide accurate advice based on the most
current circumstances of our clients.

What is the favourite part of your role?

The aspect of my role that I find most fulfilling is the direct engagement with clients and participating in meetings. This experience offers a window into the dynamics of a meeting and the extensive knowledge required by advisers to address client inquiries effectively. The advisers at Monenti Partners are unparalleled, and I consider myself fortunate to be learning from those who I regard some of the finest in the field. I am
eager to absorb their expertise in the hope of one day mirroring their exemplary standards.

What does the future hold for Monenti Partners?

I believe Monenti Partners has a bright future, the company has clear set goals, a shared vision of what we want to achieve and a capable, driven team to carry it out.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in the financial services profession?

My advice for those aspiring to enter the financial planning profession is unequivocal: go for it! The path to this career is accessible to those who are determined to begin at the foundational level and ascend through the ranks. My background in Law provided a somewhat seamless transition into financial advice, demonstrating that barriers are minimal. If you possess a passion for financial planning and a desire to make a meaningful impact on clients’ lives, I encourage you to boldly pursue this rewarding journey.

What do you think the future of financial planning looks like?

I foresee a future where Defined Benefit pension schemes will become increasingly rare, making retirement planning more critical than ever. The recent significant reduction in the Capital Gains Tax allowance has introduced a heightened risk of unforeseen tax liabilities without expert guidance. With inflation having increased and the value of cash products potentially eroding by 25% over a span of five years, the financial landscape is indeed challenging. The disparity between real wages and housing costs continues to widen, and the cost of living is escalating. These factors collectively represent substantial headwinds to achieving financial success.

Nevertheless, these conditions underscore the indispensable role of Financial Planners. The impact of our work is more profound, and the satisfaction I derive from helping clients navigate these complexities and live their lives to the fullest is immense. It is in navigating these challenges where Financial Planners prove their worth, turning the tide against the odds to secure financial well-being for our clients.

This Briefing is intended only for clients  and prospective clients of our practice. It is designed to inform, educate, and entertain. It does not constitute advice. If you would like a detailed discussion of your financial planning, or any other point raised here, then please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note that past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future and investors may not get back the amount originally invested as the value of any investment and the income from it is not guaranteed. The Financial Conduct Authority do not regulate taxation advice. The tax treatment of investments depends on individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future. The value of your investments can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invested. A pension is a long term investment. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. Your eventual income may depend on the size of fund when accessed, interest rates and legislation.
